How M3 Delivers As-a-Service Innovation in Malaysia with Lenovo TruScale

M3 is pushing boundaries to win long-term customers, choosing Lenovo TruScale to power sustainable growth and future success.

Driving Malaysia’s Digital Transformation

Malaysia’s digital economy is evolving rapidly, fueled by the nation’s strong commitment to digital transformation. The ICT sector continues to thrive, projected to contribute over a quarter of the national GDP this year. As digitalization accelerates, both large enterprises and small businesses are seeking smarter, more flexible technology solutions.

Amid this momentum, local IT firm Microtree Sdn Bhd (M3) recognized a critical opportunity. Many smaller Malaysian organizations were being “priced out” of the IT market due to high upfront costs, subscription fees, and complex enterprise software requirements. M3 set out to bridge this gap — helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) adopt a digital-first mindset and compete on a larger scale.

Building on a Legacy of Expertise

Established in 2004 in Kuala Lumpur, M3 brings nearly two decades of experience in digital transformation, data management, network security, and managed services. The company has earned a trusted reputation across industries such as logistics, hospitality, oil & gas, manufacturing, and healthcare.

To advance its mission of empowering local businesses, M3 turned to Lenovo TruScale – Everything as a Service (XaaS). The goal: deliver enterprise-grade technology with affordability and flexibility at its core.

Flexible As-a-Service Technology

A Flexible Approach for Modern Needs

A long-standing Lenovo partner, M3 found in Lenovo 360 for TruScale an ideal go-to-market framework for “as-a-service” innovation. With TruScale Device as a Service (DaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), M3 can now offer scalable, cost-efficient IT solutions that align with how businesses prefer to consume technology.

“We realized that Lenovo TruScale would be a perfect foundation for our new ‘as-a-service’ offerings,” says Chew Kah Hun, Director of Sales at M3. “With TruScale, we can streamline infrastructure procurement, deployment, and management — all with flexible, subscription-based pricing.”

This approach also paved the way for M3’s new Backup as a Service (BaaS) product — designed specifically for smaller Malaysian organizations seeking reliable, cost-effective data protection.

Delivering Results and Expanding Capabilities

M3’s partnership with Lenovo has already yielded measurable success. The company is supporting high-performance computing (HPC) initiatives for a leading Malaysian automotive manufacturer, leveraging Lenovo TruScale DaaS to deliver top-tier performance and reliability at a competitive cost.

“Lenovo brought us into HPC opportunities with two enterprise customers,” adds Chew. “Few IT vendors in Malaysia can combine high-performance solutions with flexible financing — and we believe TruScale will perform very strongly in our market.”

In collaboration with Lenovo and partner Cohesity, M3 also developed its BaaS solution to help SMEs safeguard mission-critical data. With TruScale’s subscription model, clients can back up servers and endpoint devices securely — with no upfront investment.

A Foundation for Sustainable Growth

Linda Yao, VP and GM of Hybrid Cloud and AI Solutions at Lenovo, highlights the partnership’s impact:

“The scalability and cost-efficiency of Lenovo TruScale have been instrumental in helping M3 modernize their technology, scale rapidly, and align IT more closely with evolving business needs — all without heavy capital investment.”

By embracing TruScale’s Everything-as-a-Service model, M3 is gaining the agility to diversify its offerings and deliver enterprise-level solutions to more customers than ever before.

Ready for the Future

M3’s collaboration with Lenovo positions the company to lead in Malaysia’s fast-growing digital landscape. The move away from capital-heavy IT investments toward a flexible service model gives M3 — and its clients — the freedom to innovate and grow sustainably.

“Lenovo has an excellent reputation for robust, quality hardware,” says Chew. “We’re confident in their performance and reliability. Looking ahead, Lenovo will continue to play a key role in the growth of our business.”

With Lenovo TruScale, M3 is transforming how Malaysian organizations access, manage, and scale technology — setting a strong foundation for long-term success.
